Golden Eaglets' Head Coach, Manu Garba has declared Saturday’s game against Mexico as the final before the final despite the fact that this is just the teams' opening game at the 2013 UAE FIFA Under-17 World Cup.

Speaking against the backdrop of meeting the defending champions, Manu said it was the Mexicans that should be wary of Nigeria because of her rich  pedigree at this level.
" With all due respect, I think it is the Mexicans that should be afraid of playing us because we are a top side at this level ," Manu said at the official press Conference held  inside  the Bin Zayed Stadium. “The first game is crucial in any tournament and we are going
to play Mexico like a cup final."

Cross River state Governor, Senator Liyel Imoke, has said the Canaan city of Calabar, will be too hot for the Waylain Antelopes of Ethiopia, when they come for the return leg match against the Super Eagles on November 16.

It was generally assumed that the Ethiopians used the high altitude to their advantage in the game against Nigeria last Sunday but still lost, but the Governor who spoke while watching the game between the Antelopes and the Eagles has now said there will be no hiding place
for the visitors in Calabar.

Nigeria’s senior locally-based players will kick-start their preparations for a first-ever appearance at the African Nations Championship on Thursday, 17th October.

Head Coach, Stephen Keshi, who also manages the ‘A’ team, has invited 28 players to report in Abuja as the Super Eagles Team B gets set for an international friendly with the full team of Jordan, billed for the Jordanian capital, Amman, on 28th October.

Super Eagles boss, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi says the team will played as if it had not played a first leg encounter when both teams clash  November 16, in the Canaan City of Calabar, Cross River state.

Speaking after his side’s 2-1 win over Ethiopia in Addis Ababa at the weekend, Keshi said he was not disappointed by the gritty display of the host and praised the resilience of his players in rebuffing them. “The Ethiopians were very good and tactical and that shows how good their coach is, but we were the more experienced side and it showed at the end of the day.

UAE 2013:Golden Eaglets depart Dubai for Al-Ain on Tuesday

Golden Eaglets  will  depart on Tuesday from  their pre-World Cup training camp in Dubai for the City of  Al-Ain on Tuesday as  the 2013 UAE  FIFA Under-17  World Cup gets underway.

Arrangements have already  been concluded by the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF)  for the team's seamless transition to the venue of their first two matches  in Al-Ain by luxury bus from Dubai with the departure fixed for 9 am local time(6am Nigerian time). The Golden Eaglets would play Mexico and Sweden respectively on October 19 and 22 at Al-Ain before their last game against Iraq in
Dubai on October 25.
