Akwa United FC fought back from a goal down to send Nigeria Nationwide League (NNWL) club, Peace Maker FC out of the 2015 Federation Cup round of 32 match played at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu on Wednesday July 8,2015.
The Promise Keepers moved to the round of 16 with a 3-1 victory, Peace Maker FC started brightly and were rewarded with a goal in the early stage of the match when Kolapo Olubodun struck from inside the box with Victor Obiowo in goal for Akwa Utd not having answer to it.
And with obvious pressure from the Akwa United bench, the team came out immediately from their shell and raised their game to the Machine team as they got a penalty after Oladapo Bisi handled the ball in the box leaving the referee to signal a spot kick in the 32nd minute and Namso Edo converted from the spot.
End to end football display was been witness before a slight loss of concentration by the Peace Maker FC defence gave Aniekpeno Ekpe to score the second goal from inside the box to put Akwa United into the lead in the break.
With little time left to play, Ubong Friday made it 3 for Akwa United with a lovely header to beat Ekeh Chinoso in goal for Peace Maker FC.
Speaking after the game, Awka United coach, Zachary Baraje, said he knew that his team will advance, but he insisted that the most important thing is that Akwa United came out victorious. While Peace Maker coach, Olojo Olanrewaju, felt depressed but he was quick to state that the expectation in the competition is really high.
