Chairman State of Osun Football Association, Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi, and the immediate past chairman of Nationwide League One, Alhaji Ahmad Kawu, have condoled with the Nigeria Football Referees Association (NRA), Lagos State Referee Council and the family of Basit Giwa, who slumped and died, while undergoing the 2015 National fitness test at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.
The deceased passed the fitness test by completing the race within the stipulated time only for his health to develop issues moment after the exercise and the aspiring referee was said to have been rushed to the hospital when efforts by the NRA medics made to revived him however, proved abortive.
A statement signed by Ogunjobi, said everyone at Osun FA and Prime FC identified with NRA and regretted the irreparable lost and prayed God give the deceased family the fortitude to bear the loss.
In his condolence message, Kawu, described the untimely death of the Nationwide League One referee as sad, shocking and unfortunate.
Kawu prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased and for God to console his family, NRA and the football family and to grant all the fortitude to bear his painful exit.
The Lagos State Referee Council deceased has been buried according to Islamic rite by his family in Lagos on Tuesday.
