C.O.D United full back, Feyi Akinbola is a man who has a vision and has embarked on the mission to achieve it.
Feyi who's a regular for the White Lions, touched on some issues in an interview with the C.O.D United media team. On what lies ahead in the upcoming Nigeria National League season, the right back said
he can't wait to line up against traditional team, Shooting Stars of Ibadan.
"As a footballer playing in Nigeria, Shooting Stars is one club you'll want to play for or against as they have so much history here and on the continent. It was sad seeing such a club drop down but it's football and a blessing for the National League as it will get more coverage because of the calibre of teams there."
Feyi also went on to lend his thoughts about the selected players to take part in the CHAN camp ahead of the championship in January 2014.
"It was a good feeling when Nigeria qualified for the home based nations for the first time and its now a better feeling after seeing the list of players invited, as am sure the team will come out victorious. Stephen Keshi and the coaching crew have done a great job and even though it won't be easy, they have the experience and technical ability to steer us to victory."
On if he harbours dreams of turning out in national team colours someday, Feyi said he believes no player plays football without that on his mind.
"Playing for the Super Eagles, be it home based or main team has always been on my mind and its a dream I hope and pray to live. However, it isn't easy getting in there as you have to possess top quality and a bit of luck as well for the handlers to look at you but am confident that as time goes on, I'll represent my country and give my all. Stephen Keshi has shown he pays attention to the National League as couple of players got called up during the past season so, if I continue to give my best, why not?" He concluded.
Feyi Akinbola oozed optimism when asked about the chances of C.O.D United gaining promotion as he said the lessons learnt in the last two seasons in the NNL have been noted and would be used to achieve promotion while also reaffirming his belief in the abilities of his team mates to get the job done.
Feyi was instrumental in the club's State FA Cup triumph and racked up four assists from his right back position in the League, last season.
