Reports suggesting that Qatar will be interested to host the Africa Cup of nations after the Confederation of Africa Football ruled out Morocco as host of the tournament in 2015 has been denied.
According to French daily L’équipe 'the Gulf nation is among the possible options considered by CAF as an alternate venue to host the 2015 AFCON scheduled tfor January 17th to February 9th 2014.
According to a quote by the French daily, ‘Qatar could take the opportunity to test its capabilities.’
But Agence France Presse (AFP) quoted the vice-president of the Qatari Football Association, Saud al-Al Mohanadi, saying that the information suggesting such thing as Qatar hosting the African football showpiece is ‘false’, adding that for a non-African country to host an African football event ‘does not make any sense.’
CAF have specifically stated through its president, Issa Hayatou that a new host will be announced in the next three days.
