If a poll is taken right now in Nigeria on who is the most unpopular sports administrator in Nigeria, Amaju Pinnick will be high up there maybe Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung would be his major rival.
Everything that seem to be wrong in the NFF leads to his doorstep as he is the leader and most football analysts say he should take responsibility for the failures in Nigeria's football house.
It is easy to forget that it is the same Amaju Pinnick who had so much goodwill when he was elected into office in September 2014 as football enthusiasts and fans were happy that finally, a technocrat is in charge of Nigerian football.
Fast forward two years later and it has been a sour taste as this was a man prior to being the NFF president was the chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission and the chairman of Delta State Football Association and was once a personal assistant to the former FIFA president, Sepp Blatter while he visited Nigeria including a host of other sporting positions.
There was hope that Amaju Pinnick will lead Nigerian football to the right path but unfortunately it hasn't been that way
Prior to him being elected, Nigeria were champions of Africa but under his tenure Nigeria has failed to qualify for two consecutive Nations Cup tournaments and next year Nigeria will also not be atthe U-17 and U-20 tournaments by virtue of not qualifying for these tournaments, making it the worst run Nigeria has ever experienced since its emergence in African football.
Also not forgetting players and coaches being owed as Sunday Oliseh and Samson Siasia come to mind, the former which he christened as African Pep Guardiola and the joke of Paul Le Guen as a coach after he was announced as the Technical adviser for the Super Eagles when terms haven't been agreed at all. It's really been a bitter pill as there have been widespread calls for his resignation.
To be fair to him he has had challenges like the Chris Giwa debacle and the economic crunch which makes it hard for sponsorship to come by but he could have found other means of generating revenue for the NFF and make their brand look more appealing to attract sponsors but unfortunately that isn't the case as the next two years will determine the drastic improvement needed to be seen, else he could fall off the edge and the history books wouldn't remember him with so much glee.
