The week four Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match Akure between Sunshine Stars and Dolphins may have ended in a 2-1 in favour of the home team but questions were raised about the quality of officiating and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Referees Committee has suspended the centre ref and his assistance.
The NFF announced through its official website thenff.com that Referee John Charles and Assistant Referee Ogunta Matador have been suspended until the end of the current season for poor performance in a Glo Premier League Week 4 match on Sunday.
Both arbiters were on duty when Sunshine Stars FC of Akure hosted Dolphins FC of Port Harcourt on Sunday. The homers won the game 2-1.
Chairman of the NFF Referees Committee, Alhaji Yusuf Ahmed Fresh said the two officials were suspended for “gross misconduct and performance below the required standard.”
