Nasarawa United will go for a huge win against Algerian foes, Club Sportif Constantinois when both teams clash at the National Stadium, Abuja on Sunday.
The Solid Miners have the objective of winning well at home in order to make the second leg of their CAF Confederation Cup, second round fixture against Algeria’s oldest club a formality.
CS Constantinois was founded in 1898, making it the oldest football club in Algeria. It is based in the city of Constantine, with its homeground, Stade Chadli Hamlaoui able to hold about 40,000 spectators.
The club relies on home support a great deal, which is why Nasarawa United would not take chances and desire to enact a big win in Abuja before the return leg, which is set for next week in Constantine.
“We have been able to get a few things on Club Sportif Constantine, which we have passed to our technical team. We know it is a team that believes in its home turf and supporters, so we will pile up the pressure here and try to finish the job in Abuja before the return leg. However, that does not mean we would be going to Constantine to lie down for them. No way!”
Nasarawa United showed good strength on the road when drawing 0-0 with AS Academie Generation Foot of Senegal in Dakar, to scale through the first round hurdle on 2-1 aggregate.
Sunday’s clash will start at 2pm in Abuja.
