Omoku based Go Round United Football Club will return to the Nigeria Federation Cup on Monday after boycotting the competition for two seasons.
Go Round will start their campaign in the Rivers State FA Cup on March 28, 2016 with a game against SKE FC.
The last time Go Round United FC played in the Rivers FA Cup was in 2013 when the team felt hard done by the organisers of the competition during a semifinal game against Sharks FC.
General Manager of Go Round FC, Soni Uboh says he believes the club will do
enough this season to qualify for the Federation Cup through the Rivers FA Cup.
“We are ready for the season. Though our league has not kicked off yet, we are ready for the new season,” Uboh said.
“Because only five clubs registered for the Rivers State FA Cup, we are aware that Rivers United have already been drawn bye to the final while the rest of us will eliminate each other until we get the next finalist.
“We believe it will be Go Round United FC playing against Rivers United in the final,” Uboh said.
The last time Go Round United FC played in the Rivers State FA Cup was on May 1, 2013 against Sharks in the semifinal.
Go Round led 2-1 in that encounter and with two minutes left to play, a fan, thought to be of Sharks, invaded the pitch, grabbed the match ball and the Assistant Referee’s flag and stormed off, causing the Rivers State FA to call for the match to be replayed from the start at 0-0.
The action caused Go Round FC to boycott the Rivers State FA Cup ever since.
