2013 Federaion Cup: Defending Champion, Heartland FC of Owerri Bow Out

Out of a host of clubs that started this competition from the state level only four of them are still active in the competition. Last year finalist Lobi Stars of Makurdi, 2011 finalist Enyimba of Aba, one of the two representatives from Uyo, Akwa United and Niger Delta team Warri Wolves are the last four standing teams.

Nigeria National League (NNL) side, Akwa Starlet of Uyo would give themselves a thumbs up for reaching the last eight after going down to Lobi Stars by 2goals to one while Heartland of Owerri are faced with the reality that they'll have to wait for another 365 days to give a go at the Federation Cup.The Naze Millionaires lost 5:4 on penalties to Akwa United after a one all draw. Nasarawa United lost by a very slim margin (0:1) to Enyimba of Aba but the Solid Miners can build on  their quarter final appearance in the Federation Cup to achieve more . The biggest loss came from the Ilorin centre where Warri Wolves played against Kano Pillars, it ended 3 goals to nil in favour of the Seasiders.

Now it's about the "Survival of the Fittest" two time African champions, Enyimba will seize up Lobi Stars in the semi final while the second semi final match will be between Warri Wolves and Akwa United.

The final will take place at the Teslim Balogun stadium (TBS) in Lagos on the 15th of September 2012.
