The Nigeria National League (NNL) finally gets underway this weekend with 16 breathtaking fixtures across various match center as relegated Nigeria Professional Football League (NNL) clubs Kaduna United, Gombe United, Crown FC and Nembe City flagged off their lower division campaign.
Interesting games are billed to go down this weekend in the second tier league in Nigeria.
Kaduna United welcomes Adamawa United at the Kaduna Township Stadium on Sunday. Adamawa United finished the 2013/2014 NNL seasson with 46 points and claimed the six spot while the Crocodiles dropped to the lower division after a 19th place finish last season. Both teams lost their
last game in the Federation Cup, Kaduna United were defeated by Enugu Rangers 8-7 on penalties, Adamawa United didn't made the round of 64 of the Cup competition.
Having lost out of the Federation Cup in a 3-2 defeat to Papilo FC, the Desert Scorpions will begin their NNL quest this weekend at home against Abubarka Bukola Saraki Football Club (ABS FC) of Ilorin at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe. The Austin Eguavoen tutored side will be going into this game with a quality and compact squad, they look favourites to pick the full points in this game. ABS FC struggled to gain promotion back to the NPFL last season, their last away game in the NNL ended in a two all draw in Lagos against MFM FC.
Coach Olabode Awakan will be guiding Gateway FC of Abeokuta to one of the difficulty fixtures in the opening match day of the new NNL season at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Sagamu as they look forward to overpower last season away draw specialists MFM FC. Gateway progressed to the round of 32 of the Federation Cup with a walked-over against Binani FC. MFM FC suffered a 2-0 loss the last time they travelled to Abeokuta. It's going to be an interesting game for the two sides, Gateway FC must be clinical in front of goal if they really want to amass the three available points in this encounter.
Remo Stars FC vs Ikorodu United game is one fixture alot of persons are looking out for. Ikorodu United fans will be banking on the experience of coach Maurice Coreman as they face red hot Sky Blue Stars at the Dipo Dina Stadium on Sunday in Ijebu Ode. This will be the first meeting between the two sides. Remo Stars are full of confidence going into this encounter, their 5-2 bashing of Cardinal FC in the round of 62 of the Federation Cup will boast their confidence as they lock horns with the visitors.
