Former Dolphin star Stone Evbuomwan has hailed the Flying Eagles of Nigeria as a complete team and tipped them to win the FIFA Youth Championship in New Zealand.
The Nigerian U-20 side under the tutelage of Coach Manu Garba will be heading to the competition as African Champions after lifting the Cup in Senegal where they defeated the host 1-0 in the final courtesy a wonder strike from Esperance new signing Bernard Bulbwa.
Stone who currently plays for Egyptian side Arab Contractors hinges his confidence on the fact that the team has formed a powerful bond coming through the U-17 ranks where they won the FIFA World Cup.
‘The list I saw is a very good one,’ Stone told SportingLife. ‘With Isaac Success, Kelechi Iheanacho, Taiwo Awoniyi, and Kingsley Sokari in the team - the trophy is theirs already.
‘These players have been together since the U-17 maybe with the exception of a few players but their togetherness is impeccable and I wish the team all the best.’
The Former Golden Eaglets star did not blink or alter his claims when reminded that Nigeria was placed alongside 5-time winners Brazil in Group E which also has Hungry and Korea DPR.
‘I believe in these players and Brazil won’t be a problem,’ he opined. ‘I have followed the team closely and enjoy watching them play.’
The Flying Eagles are expected to hit New Zealand from their pre-tournament training camp in Germany for the competition which starts from May 30 to June 20.
