Rivers Angels who played host opened the score sheet in the 8th minute of play through veteran Ugo Njoku.
The Port Harcourt based women league side enjoyed more possessions in the first-half that finished with the lone goal advantage.
Confluence Queens fought back so hard in the second half with strings of attacks and were rewarded in the 49th when forward Aluko Mariam got the equalizer to put her team back into the game.
Substitute Ikeh Ginika who replaced Aishat Bello sealed the win for Confluence Queens late in the 87th minute as the Wada Queens against all odds dumped favorites Rivers Angels.
Head Coach of the Queens, Suileman Adamu says his girls gave it all and deserved the victory just as he expressed optimism of winning the trophy.
“Rivers Angels are a good side but Confluence Queens looks better and deserves to win today, we played against more of a Super Falcons side, more experienced but our halftime pep talk helped a lot.”
“This is our first win against Rivers Angels in many years, we are happy we've got the revenge at the time that matters most.”
"Our target is to lift the cup, when you knocked out defending champions, it means you have all it takes to win it all, we won't relent in our efforts, until we win the cup.”
