2013 AFCON Champions, Super Eagles of Nigeria have been paired with Ethiopia in the 2014 FIFA world cup play-off draws held today in Cairo by Confederation of African Football (CAF).
In the last three meetings between the two countries Nigeria have won twice and drawn once. The Super Eagles who will play the first leg away on the 11th of October 2013 are ranked 4th in Africa and 36 in the world while Ethiopia are ranked 93. Nigeria won 4:0 in a nations cup qualifier at home but drew 2:2 in the return leg. On their way to be crowned the 2013 champions of Africa in South Africa, Nigeria put two past Ethiopia in the group stage.
While some think Ethiopia might be an easy ride, the Walia Antelopes who are ranked 25th in Africa and 93rd in the world topped group A even with 3points deduction ahead of South Africa in same group. The first leg will be played on the 11th of October 2013 in Ethiopia while the return leg will be played in Nigeria on the 15th of November 2013.
