National Stadium Abuja Reopen: Golden Eaglets Face Asari Dokubo boys

No quarter would be asked and none would be given when the Golden Eaglets battle Amakson Soccer Academy in a friendly to commemorate the official handover of the rehabilitated Main Bowl pitch of the National Stadium Abuja to the National Sports Commission by Julius Berger PLC
on Tuesday.

Speaking ahead of the match, Golden Eaglets Head Coach, Manu Garba (MFR) and his opposite number, Emmanuel Bishop Amakiri said there is more at stake for obvious reasons after the Abuja-based team were recently beaten 4-2 by the National Under-17 team in Calabar.
“We are going to Abuja with the aim to consolidate our pedigree by winning this match,” Garba said before they jet-out of their base in Calabar on Monday. “This is an important match for us since this is the first time we would be playing in front of special dignitaries in Abuja and as usual, we are going to give the match our best shot.”

It took some efforts before the Golden Eaglets subdued the Abuja-based team during their last encounter and Amakiri who doubles as owner and the coach of the team, said they are desirous to avenge that defeat.

“We count ourselves lucky to be given the opportunity to play against the Golden Eaglets again after we recently lost to them in Calabar,” noted Amakiri, the protégé of Alhaji Asari Dokubo, the founder Niger Delta People's Volunteer (NDPV). “Frankly, I don’t want to boast about what we are going to do but our match against the Golden Eaglets on Tuesday would be very tough.
“We have our name, prestige to protect and we are going to unleash our best legs against the Golden Eaglets on Tuesday.”

The Golden Eaglets remains unbeaten in 23 matches against their domestic counterparts and it remains to be seen how Amakson Football Academy would come out of the National Stadium Abuja unscathed.
