The Super Eagles of Nigeria will start the year '2015' in the 43rd position on the January FIFA ranking.
The latest ranking released by the world football governing body, FIFA left Nigeria in the same position as that of last month (December 2014).
The Super Eagles of Nigeria were not the only team caught in the web of being in the same position, there were
145 countries who didn't change from their previous position amongst the 209 teams on the ranking.

According to FIFA, only 16 friendlies were included since December’s ranking, 11 of which took place in 2014 however a total of 845 matches were played in 2014.

Nigeria may further go down in the February ranking because the current African champions won't be at the 2015 AFCON which would have helped gather more point. The two Friendlies Nigeria's involved in won't make much impact as points from friendly games carry less weight from those secured in competition proper.
