MFM FC defensive midfielder, Alashe Ajibola is optimistic that the Olukoya Boys won’t be complacent this season as they approach each match a step at a time.
Alashe has played in four matches this term for the Lagos outfit and he was in action in the 1-1 draw against Wikki Tourist FC in Bauchi on Wednesday in a week nine rescheduled Nigeria Professional Football League match. Striker Shamma Tanze had put the Bauchi Elephants in front in the first half but a precise shot from defender, Stanley Okorom leveled scores and earned the visitors a point.
“The match wasn’t an easy match because we played against a team that hasn’t been winning and they needed the win to be back on track just the way we were also determined to win as well. So the match was very intense but we were able to manage the pressure tactically,” Alashe told Footyalert
“When we conceded a goal in the first half, we didn’t care and were never bothered but we stayed focused. We continued to play as if it was still goalless. Basically that’s part of the tactics, slow down the game, keep the ball and play in your opponent’s half. We came out stronger in the second half and that helped our confidence and we got a well deserve goal. Wikki Tourist mounted more pressure on us but we held on strong till the end and I think it was a well deserve performance from MFM FC.
MF FC have picked six points on the road and it looks like the Olukoya Boys aren’t ready to slow down.
“I think that we are doing well. It’s a great start for us and we are enjoying the moment. You know that we still have a very long way to go till the end of the season so our aim is to approach every match at a time, one step at a time and try to stay focused all through the season and don’t allow complacency set in. We are trying our best to pick points on the road and hopefully win all our home games.
"We know that by the second stanza of the league things will change, the competition will get even much tough. That’s when you start to play against title contenders and those trying to avoid relegation but we shall try to stay focused and not get distracted and see where we shall end the season. Our goal this season is to win the league trophy because we know that impossibility is nothing," Alashe concludes
