The First Bank FC captain has expressed confidence that the Elephants have what it takes to secure a win in their season opener.
First Bank FC captain, Abou Ali is optimistic that the Elephants will start the 2016/17 Nigeria National League (NNL) season with a win on Monday against Go Round FC at the Agege stadium.
Though the Lagos outfit had a not too pleasant campaign in the second tier league last season but the energetic defender has maintained that the Bankers are prepared for the battle ahead.
“Though some of our regulars in the team have left to clubs in the elite league but we still have a squad blessed with talented players and the preseason has gone well. A new team with a positive mindset is what we have at the moment and we can’t wait to get the 2016/17 season started,” Ali told Footyalert
The former Abia Warriors star who joined the Lagos base club in 2014 believes that the garnered by the Bankers from previous seasons in the Nigeria National League will play an important role in this year’s campaign.
“Last season was very tough but we were so close to picking a ticket to the Nigeria Professional Football League in 2014 but we just couldn’t pick a point at Go Round, I strongly believe that experience will play a vital role in our campaign this season. We have one of the best technical crew in the land, so l believe that we shall achieve that sole target of securing promotion ticket.”
