Nigeria Professional Football League’s top scorer record holder, Enyimba’s Mfon Udoh has described the People’s Elephant win against FC Ifeanyi Ubah on Wednesday as the right turnaround needed to push for more victories.
The seven time Nigerian champions handed a 2-0 defeat to the Anambra Warriors in the rescheduled NPFL week 9 tie at the, UJ Esuene Stadium in Calabar on Wednseday courtesy of goals from former Warri Wolves’ Joeseph Osadiaye while captain, Udoh got the second goal late in the match.
“FC Ifeanyi Ubah gave us a good challenge but we came into this match knowing that only a win will help us get the right turnaround. We drew at this same venue last weekend and didn’t really want that to happen again so we just had to give our all., with a bit of luck we won by two goals, it’s the turnaround we needed to get more wins in our subsequent matches. This win didn’t come cheap, we worked for it and it will motivate us to do much more. It feels great to have created an assist and also scored a goal but it’s a collective effort,” Udoh told Footyalert
The Aba Elephants will travel to Ilorin to face ABS FC on match day 14 and Udoh is hopeful that his team will pick points.
“We shall be heading to Ilorin this weekend with a high level of confidence because this win against FC Ifeanyi Ubah will motivate us a lot. In football everything is possible so we are hopeful of picking at last a point or three.”
Enyimba FC has now garner 18 points from 13 matches and sits 8th on the league table
