Fiery Ivorian football critic, Mamadou Gaye, has written off his home team, The Elephants in Saturday’s final round qualifier for the CHAN tournament scheduled for next year in South Africa.
Gaye who spoke when he visited the Super Eagles ibis Hotel camp in Abidjan on Thursday night said it was as a result of planlessness of the Ivorian FA that the team cannot qualify against a better organised and better prepared Super Eagles. He accused the Sidi Jallo led Ivorian FA of foistering a mediocre coach on the home based Elephants while the Aminu Maigari led NFF was quick to reason that it was Stephen Keshi who leads the team A that should also be in charge of the Team B.
“They have already killed the psychology of the players by failing to draft Sabri Lamouch who is the team A coach to handle the home boys and psychologically when the players saw your Big Boss on the bench against them, a Nations Cup winner they froze out and that will repeat itself here in Abidjan”, the no nonsence sports commentator declared.
Gaye who was a known face on SuperSports elite football programmes says he is now in Abidjan with the national television station to contribute his own quota to the development of sports in Cote D’Ivoire.
Meanwhile, FIFA and CAF Match Commissioner, Paul Bassey has said the Eagles should take nothing to chance against the Elephants in Saturday’s game. His thoughts coincide with those of the Presidential General of the Nigerian Football and Other Sports Supporters Club, Dr Rauf Ladipo.
Hear Bassey: “the team must be cautious and focused even as we pray for good officiating. No matter what anybody says the Ivorians will not go down without a fight and that is the message we are sounding to the players and officials”.
Ladipo on his part, said after several years of visiting Cote D’Ivoire, he knows that they will not only try to win on the pitch at all cost but will try the use of super sensible forces. “But we believe strongly in prayers and one God and we are sure He will not fail us”.
