One thing that’s obvious amongst the fans of Shooting Stars
Sports Club of Ibadan (3SC) is their love for Oluyole Warriors. That brand
gives them the bragging right; they feel happy to be a fan of Sooting
(laughssss).
When another “Warrior” from a neighboring state paid a
visit to Ibadan for a week 20 Glo Premier League match, it was dubbed
the
battle of the Warriors. Kwara united nick named “Afonja Warriors” won the first
leg fixture at Ilorin by two goals to nil but in the reverse fixture in Ibadan
the Ilorin base team picked a point but that didn’t go down well with the fans.
It all started after the referee signaled the end of the
match, a young man in a white vest found his way into the pitch and tried to harass
the referee, the security men on ground quickly rushed to the scene to stop him
but somehow this same man ran to where the visiting fans were and started to
create some scene. Mean while a couple of fans also rushed into the pitch harassing
the match officials who were already at the centre of the pitch.
Kwara united camera man who had no one to help him in the
stand got a thorough beating by some fans who saw him covering the whole scene.
Well, it’s obvious there isn’t any video proof except a picture we manage to
snap during the whole drama.
Two jeeps were driven into the pitch to rescue the match
official out of the stadium while the security men guard Kwara united out of the
stadium as the fans throw stones at them. Thumbs up to Shooting Stars uniformed
supporters for also trying to guard the supporters of Kwara united from angry
fans.
Are these real fans or just hoodlums who find so much joy in
violence? Will 3SC act or just stay
docile?
