    It’s no longer news that whenever the season is winding up some clubs who are relegation threatened or promotion ambitious do whatever it takes to get the needed result. Little wonder we saw a surprising full time score in the Nigeria Nationwide League (NNWL) play offs where two teams scored 79 and 67 unreplied goals **laughs**.

    I guess it’s getting more interesting, probably
    we should define Match Fixing? It’s any planned arrangement or agreement with or without money before a match is played to help a particular team or teams win or draw, lose or either for or against involving players or officials of both.
    Match Fixing all over the world is prohibited by FIFA and has negative reputation in the league and the Country where this ugly act is practiced. We all know the ugly scene in Italy and recently Turkey.

    **personal opinion** Considering past events one might say  Match Fixing is seen as an approved short cut to influencing match results mostly carried out by teams in the RED or GREEN zone on the log, I hope we still remember the 13-0 and 9-0 score line a couple of seasons back?

    Few years ago, Akwa united trashed Calabar Rovers now known as Unicem Rovers by 13 goals to nil(lol) ,  Zamfara United escaped relegation when they put  9 goals past Kaduna united .

    Ironically, some clubs are complaining of purported plan on the sudden withdrawal of Zamfara United and Apa utd from the league respectively. Interestingly, the 2012/13 season has two matches to go and some interesting result have started to surface. Jigawa won away from home against FC Abuja last week (week28).

    **Personal Opinion** after reading the resolution of the Board of the NNL, one is compelled to ask this question;

    -Why recommend Premier League referees and match commissioners for the last two matches in NNL when the same board have chosen to flee from their responsibilities by not paying referee indemnities and instead push it to the home team? "he who pays the piper dictates the tone"

    It is a pity that this beautiful soft leather game is becoming a do or die affair,the pepertrators must be thouroghly investigated and punished accordingly.

    Again,I said I see it coming but me and my team will never involve in such a desperate ugly and illegal action. NNL pls watch well and punish any individual, team or manger that does. Bode Daniel O.
