Gambian Int'l, Jobe Eager To Join Up With El-Kanemi Warriors

Gambia goalkeeper, Modou Jobe has expressed excitement as he looks forward to playing the Nigeria Professional Football League.
Jobe who was formerly on the payroll of Senegalese club, ASC Linguere will be with the Gambian national team when they take on Morocco and Equitorial Guinea has confirmed that he'll join up with his new club, El-Kanemi Warriors after the international break.

Football agent, Ola Fowler confirmed to Footyalert that The Scorpions' first choice has secured a two-year contract with El-Kanemi Warriors and will be in the country after the international break.
"It's a done deal, a two-year deal has been secured for Modou Jobe. I'm happy that it's done and I'm looking forward for him to have an interesting performance in the very competitive Nigerian League," Fowler told Footyalert
Jobe couldn't hold back his joy to play in Nigeria as he stated that he would love to lift the league trophy for the Desert Warriors.

Arsenal Beach Soccer Team to play at COPA Lagos for the first time in Africa!

COPA Lagos, the annual beach soccer tournament organized by Kinetic Sports has announced the participation of the Arsenal Beach Soccer team at this year’s event which is set to hold from the 8th to the 10th of December, 2017 at Eko Atlantic City.
This is the first time the Arsenal Beach Soccer team will be coming to Africa and most importantly, Nigeria. The current Cup holders of the English National League, after lifting the title in London with a 7-2 win over the erstwhile champions, Silesia BS St Neots, have expressed their excitement in anticipation for this year’s edition of COPA Lagos.
Every edition of COPA Lagos brings a unique offering and this year’s crowns it, with not only the regular feature of sport, music, dance, fashion, fans’ zone and celebrity entertainment that comes yearly; but also there will be the first-ever Female Celebrity Match and the introduction of a “Lagos-based” beach soccer team, who will play their first match against Arsenal beach soccer team.
The “Lagos-based team” which will be making its debut at COPA Lagos 2017 was selected by Swiss beach soccer veteran and FIFA Instructor, Angelo Schirinzi alongside National Beach Soccer Coach, Adamu Ejo. The team comprises beach soccer talents from the far-flung parts of Lagos State who came out tops at the recently concluded COPA Lagos Talent Scout 2017.
The team will spend another two weeks in an intensive boot camp with Angelo Schirinzi to adequately prepare them for the international teams they will be facing at COPA Lagos 2017.
This year’s COPA Lagos promises to be a more engaging and fun filled experience for all.

Rohr calls Mikel, Musa, 22 others for Algeria, Argentina

Captain Mikel John Obi, forward Ahmed Musa and midfielder Ogenyi Onazi top the list of 24 players that Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser Gernot Rohr has invited for next week’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying match away to Algeria, and the prestige friendly with Argentina in Russia four days later.
Goalkeepers Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Daniel Akpeyi also made the cut, as well as defenders Abdullahi Shehu, Leon Balogun and William Ekong, midfielders Wilfred Ndidi and Oghenekaro Etebo and forwards Kelechi Iheanacho, Alex Iwobi and Odion Ighalo.
There is a first call for impressive Deportivo La Coruna of Spain safe hands Francis Uzoho, as well as former U17 World Cup winner Chidiebere Nwakali. Russia -based Brian Idowu has been placed on standby only for the friendly with Argentina.
2013 AFCON winner Kenneth Omeruo is on standby for both matches, alongside former junior international Alhassan Ibrahim, who now plays in Austria.
All invited players are expected to arrive in a camp in Morocco on Monday, 6th November, before the delegation flies to Constantine on Thursday, 9th November.
On Saturday, 11th November, a 45 –seater chartered aircraft will fly the Super Eagles from Constantine to Krasnodar, the Russian city that will host the international friendly against Argentina on Tuesday, 14th November.

Abia Warriors Unveil Everton As New Manager

Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia has formally unveiled Brazilian
Coach, Rafael Everton Lira as its new Manager.
At the short but impressive ceremony which took place at the Warriors home ground in Umuahia, Club Chairman, Chief Emeka Inyama disclosed that the former Fluminense FC of Brazil playmaker, has signed a two-year contract.
Chief Inyama said in signing Everton, Abia Warriors has given him the mandate to restructure and re-organise the playing architecture of the club in order to achieve the required results.
In an answer to a question, the Abia Warriors Chairman said the club, having sojourned in the elite division of the Nigerian league for four seasons, now has a bigger ambition and has therefore given Everton the mandate be part of the big contenders for the league at the end of the season as well as groom marketable players for the business of the game.
He assured the coach of management’s support at all times and wished him the best in his new assignment.
Responding, Everton said he has come to Umuahia with the intention of making the club one of the best in the land adding that he was happy with what he has seen on the ground.
Everton, who also played for Sport Club Do Recife before he hung his boots as a player, said he recognizes the challenges before him as the new Abia Warriors Chief tactician and hoped he would help the club realize its ambition of at least getting one of the continental slots at the end of the season.

Top European clubs trail Onyekuru

Big Test! Nigeria, Argentina clash in glamour game in Russia

Three –time African champions Nigeria and two –time world champions Argentina will square up in a high –profile international friendly in the Russian city of Krasnodar on Tuesday, 14th November 2017, thenff.com can confirm.
NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, disclosed at the weekend that nearly all arrangements have been concluded with regards to the big match, subject to approval by world football –ruling body, FIFA and agreeable flight arrangements.
“We have had long and fruitful talks, and we can say that we have an agreement. We await the approval by FIFA and also, we have to agree on the flight arrangements that would be comfortable for the players and crew.
“The match will come up on 14th November, four days after the Super Eagles’ final 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying match away to Algeria. We had offers from teams like Iran, Saudi Arabia and Morocco but we have opted for the Argentines,” Sanusi said.
The Eagles take on Algeria’s Fennecs in what is no more than an academic exercise, at the Stade Mohamed Hamlaoui in Constantine on Friday, 10th November.
Nigeria and Argentina played two high –profile friendly matches in 2011, the first in Abuja in June ending 4-1 in favour of the Super Eagles. The Albiceleste trumped the second encounter 3-1 in Dhaka, Bangladesh three months later.
NFF’s FIFA Match Agent Jairo Pachon of Eurodata Sport, who also organized the friendly matches with the Argentines in 2011 and has been working hard for various Nigerian National Teams in the areas of training camps and friendly games since 2009, told thenff.com: “We are very pleased to be able to deliver such a high –profile game to celebrate the Super Eagles’ 2018 World Cup qualification.
“It was a lot of work over the past week but we are happy this has become reality. We will, in due course, reveal the Nigerian sponsor of the match who will have the match rights in Nigeria.”
While Argentina qualified for Russia on the final day of the South American qualification campaign, the Super Eagles have reached Russia with a match to spare.
Nigeria have had to confront Argentina in four of its previous five FIFA World Cup appearances, starting with a 1-2 defeat in Boston, USA in the African team’s debut in 1994. Argentina won another group phase clash 1-0 in Ibaraki, Japan in 2002, won a similar encounter by the same margin in Johannesburg, South Africa eight years later and then edged the Eagles 3-2 in Porto Alegre, Brazil in 2014.
Other famous encounters between both nations include two final matches of the Olympic Men’s Football Tournament – Nigeria edging it in 1996 in America and the Argies winning by the odd goal in China 12 years later.
Argentina will clash will take on World Cup hosts Russia in a friendly on 10th November while the Eagles are playing the Fennecs in Constantine.

LBA announces nominees for end-of-season ceremony

The League Bloggers Awards (LBA) on Sunday revealed its shortlists for this year's end-of-the-season ceremony to cover the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), the Nigeria National League (NNL)
and the Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL).
The award is billed to hold at the Sheraton Hotels and Towers in Lagos on Tuesday, 31 October.
Nominees, including players, coaches and clubs, will compete for recognition in 13 categories in this year's edition of the award.
For the first time the LBA is venturing into honouring actors in the second tier and in the women's championship.
The LBA will honour the best players in the NNL and NWPL for this season.

Rohr hails his ‘soldiers’ after ‘difficult game’

Super Eagles’ Franco-German Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr on Saturday praised his wards for fighting a great battle to overcome Zambia’s Chipolopolo and qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals.
He said at the post –match conference: “It was a very difficult game, in fact the most difficult for us in the qualifying series because of what was at stake, because we knew a win would take us there and we were eager to finish it off.
“I commend the Zambians for their spirit. They fought very hard. This team was different from the one we defeated in Ndola last year; this was a much better and stronger team.
“I am very happy for the players and for this great nation, for us to qualify with a match in hand. It is a good feeling and after this night, we will begin to plan about how to prepare for the World Cup.
“But we have the final match in Algeria next month, and perhaps we can have a friendly within that window as well and begin the preparation for Russia 2018

Nigeria has great player in Beach soccer - Angelo Schirinzi

COPA Lagos, the annual Beach Soccer tournament began this year with its talent scout initiative.FIFA instructor and multiple award-winning Coach, Angelo Schirinzi accompanied by theNigerian National Beach Soccer Team Coach, Audu Ejo Adamu kicked things off in great style.
The Talent Scout team visited various areas of Lagos within a three day period and selected aprovisional 23 players to take part in the Boot Camp in November and prepare them to playclub Challenge event at COPA Lagos 2017.
During the final selection process of the 23 players, Angelo Schirinzi said “Nigeria has greatpotential in beach soccer and it can be seen at every street corner. We intend to make themprofessional players.” The first match of the team of carefully selected players will be at COPALagos 2017.
Now in its 7thyear running, COPA Lagos Beach Soccer Tournament has become one of the mostanticipated events in the country. An all-female and all male celebrity match is in the offing thisyear with side-attractions like a fashion show, a massive closing ceremony, a mega after-partyamongst others to give beach soccer lovers an enriched experience.
The tournament this year is supported by top brands such as, First City Monument Bank (FCMB),Pepsi,Eko Atlantic, Wakanow, Hero Lager amongst many other stellar organizations supportingthe 2017 Edition of COPA Lagos.
It was a tough task for the beach soccer players as most of them were naïve about the rules –some thought it was conventional football and wore their boots to the field. In the end it was allfun and ten of the best players from Takwa Bay were selected to the next round.
The Talent Scout team also showed up at Asakpo Beach Resort, Badagry where more beachsoccer talents were discovered.
The players there were put in two teams and intermittently,players were substituted to allow more people participate. Then the best players from Badagrywere pitched against each other in two teams from which the top ten players from Badagrywere picked.
The third location for the COPA Lagos 2017 Talent Scout team was St. Michael’s Primary School,Ojo. FIFA Instructor, Angelo Schirinzi reeled out the criteria for selection.
He listedcommunication, transition, off-the-ball movement, control and team-awareness as essentialcriteria for success in Beach soccer.
The Talent Scout team was so impressed by the beach soccer players at Ojo that they selected18 players to move on to the next round of selection!
The fourth location for the Talent Scout team was Evans Square, Ebute Meta.
They werecharged to give their best and possess high spirits to be selected. It was an electrifyingatmosphere in Ebute Meta as the locals came out en-masse to support their own. Elevenplayers were chosen from the Ebute Meta Centre.
Finally, the selected players from the different locations converged at the Elegushi Beach Resort,where the final selection was to take place. Angelo Schirinzi and Adamu Audu Ejo were on handto take the 50 available players through rigorous beach soccer training routines.
The players were drilled and 23 players made it for the final round of selection in Novemberwhen the team will have a Boot Camp where the final 7 will be selected to play at the COPALagos 2017 main event.
The selected team will get the opportunity to play with the likes of Arsenal Bsc, S.S. Lazio andS.C Portugal at COPA Lagos 2017.

Moses, Mikel, Iheanacho aim to increase goals’ tally

A total of six players have scored Nigeria’s 10 goals so far in the qualifying race for the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup finals.Chelsea FC of England’s Victor Moses has top –scored with three goals, two of them against Algeria’s Fennecs in Uyo in November 2016 (the first and third goals) and the other (the third goal) in the 4-0 whitewash of Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions also in Uyo last month.Captain Mikel Obi has scored twice, also both at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium. CSED Concludes Training of School Games Masters In The Niger Delta

A non-governmental organization, Community Sports and Educational Development (CSED) has concluded its two day seminar on mentoring of games masters/mistresses in primary schools in Udu Local Government area of Delta State.
Practical sessions on coaching methodology was marred by heavy down pour but did not dampen the enthusiasm exhibited by the participants as they all attended the second day of the event to see through the programme.
Mrs Clara Ukulu a woman development officer of the Burutu local government area of Delta State delivered a lecture on 'Keeping Children Safe in Schools and Sporting environment'
Coach Dan Evumena delivered two papers in the course of the two days. Day 1 on 'Qualities of a youth coach' and day 2 on 'Imperatives Of Talent Identification'.
Veteran Coach Paul E.R. Obire gave a lecture on 'Special Features of Youth Soccer Training'
Coach Bob Blankson took them on 'Principles of Play in Football' He gave a succint presentation of principles of Attack and Defense.
Practical session was conducted by Coach Paul Obire and the programmes Coordinator Coach Edema Fuludu who also gave a pep talk amongst others on 'Components of A Training Session- the Fundamentals'
The Chief Inspector of Education (CIE) Udu local government area Mrs Eguriase was on ground as co-facilitator as she gave kudos to CSED for the initiative and cost free training programme that has ignited the desire of her sports officers and games masters/mistressess to do better and improve. She stated that from the comments of participants, the knowledge acquired is worth more than gold.
