Katsina State Government commended Nigeria National League (NNL) side Spotlight Football Club for lifting the just-concluded West Africa Pre-Season tournament held in Niamey, Niger Republic.
Spotlight FC defeated Askokara FC of Niamey 2-1 to lift the trophy on Monday.
The state commissioner for youth and sports, Alhaji Aminu Ibrahim Safana made the commendation while receiving the victorious players and their officials at his office.
Safana said their performance and conduct during the tournament has really projected the good image of the state and the country at large.
According to him, the state government is proud of their unique achievement and charged them to redouble their efforts, especially during the forthcoming Nigeria National League (NNL) with a view to gain promotion to the elite division next football season.
The commissioner, however, assured them of facilitating an audience with Governor Ibrahim Shehu Shema which he described as an action and sport loving governor whose aim is to take the state to greater hight.
Safana then applauded the club management led by Alhaji Ayuba Umar for their commitment and dedication toward the overall development of the club and urged them to sustain the tempo.
