  • Keshi Picks Eight Home Based Stars For AFCON Qualifier

    The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced that the Super Eagles coach, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi retained eight home based players in camp ahead of the June 13 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Chad.

    Keshi stated that the retained players would be joined by the fifteen invited foreign based professionals for the final phase of preparations for Nigeria's opening 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Kaduna next weekend.
    He urged the players who failed to make the cut not to be discouraged but to work harder to keep themselves among the pool of players that could be called up for future national team assignments.
    Warri Wolves first choice goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi and Sunshine Stars goalkeeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa are the goalkeepers while familiar faces feature in the back line; Warri Wolves defenders, Azubuike Egwuekwe who was in Stephen Keshi's squad at the FIFA World Cup "Brazil 2014" and Solomon Kwambe who also was in the squad to the 2013 FIFA Confederation Cup and Sharks FC Chima Akas are the defenders chosen.  

    Bright Onyedikachi is the only midfielder picked while strikers, Gbolahan Salami and Ikechukwu Gabriel complete the eight players picked.
