    Gombe United Sign 11 Players, Release Eight

    Nigeria Professional Football League side, Gombe United have announced the signing of 11 players while eight players from the Savannah Scorpions were released based on mutual consent.


    According to a statement by the management of Gombe United, the technical crew led by former Golden Eaglets coach, Manu Garba have been given a three match ultimatum to improve or face sanction.

    The statement reads: "Preparatory to the second round of the 2016/17 NPFL season, the Management Board of Gombe United Football Club, in an effort to strengthen the team and motivate the players, deliberated and approved the following"

    "Based on recommendation from the technical crew, eleven new players were signed as reinforcement to the team. Breakdown of these new players is as follows"

    "Igoh Ogbu-Central defender (from Geeleg Academy, Jos) , Habib Olawale-Central midfielder/Full back (from Lagos Academy) ,Iyoro Evans-Central midfielder (from Dolphins), Afolabi Abdulwaheed-Striker (from Shooting Stars), Tijjani Adamu-Central midfielder (from Kano Pillars) , Joseph Onoja-Winger (from Elkanemi Warriors) , Usman Musa-Winger (from Doma United) , Abdulrahman Umar Kelebe-Striker (from Yarmalight) , Zaidu Mohammed Ibrahim-Left Full back (from Flash) , Jamilu Shehu-Central defender (from Doma United) , Aminu Abubakar Yusa-Striker (from Taraba United) ."

    "To this effect, eight players were released, based on mutual consent. These are: Bala Mohammed,  Fabassou Diedonne , Nura Mohammed , McDonald Igbankwe , Franklin Matibel , Nnamdi Ebosie , Samuel Agba , Chidera Ejuike."

    "Based on player performance index, players' salaries were improved. This is with a view to impelling them to improve their performances."

    "The Technical Adviser, Coach Manu Garba, OON, and his crew are given ultimatum in the next three matches to improve on the team's performance or face sanction."
