Nigeria national teams have been involved in some amazing come backs in football but two matches have stood out.

Should it be the Miracle of Dammam or the semi final match against the almighty Brazil at the 1996 summer Olympics, Atlanta 96?

The 1989 FIFA U20 World Youth Championship quarter final match between Nigeria's Flying Eagles and the USSR; goals from Ilian Kiriakov (30), Bakhiva Tedeev(45), Oleg Salenko (47) Ilian Kiriakov(57) had given Soviet Union a comfortable 4-0 lead but the team managed by coach, Tunde Disu came back from the dead.

Christopher Ohenhen's goal 62nd minute looked like a consolation goal but three fast goals within three minutes changed it all.

Christopher Ohenhen got his brace in the 85th minute and in that same minute, Samuel Elijah made it three while Nduka Ugbade scored the fourth in the 88th minute.

Nigeria later won the match via 5-3  penalties.

A star studded Brazilian team who were tipped to roast an equally star studded Nigerian side but probably before then were miles apart.

Nigerians had to stay awake all night just to see their team play against stars like Juninho, Bebeto, Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Roberto Carlos, and Aldair all in one team.

But there were a little hope and bragging right for the Nigerians with the likes of Austin Jay Jay Okocha, Victor Ikpeba Uche (gentle giant) Okechukwu , Daniel (Da Bull) Amokachi, Emmanuel Amuneke and the lanky Kanu Nwankwo.

As predicted Brazil were 3-1 up but a Victor Ikpeba shot from around 20 yards gave some hope even with just less than 11 minutes to go but Kanu leveled score with a goal mouth scramble and hope came back.

Late into extra time, Kanu gave a special tip that activated a wild celebration not only in Nigeria but the whole of Africa. Nigeria won that match 4-3.

I won't forget what legend Kanu did to  Chelsea on October 23, 1999. Against his country man, Celestine Babayaro.

This should be the two most memorable come backs Nigeria has ever experienced. Because of the stars in the 96 squad, I will pick the come back against Brazil. Who does that expect countries like Nigeria?

Though the USSR were during that time super powers too but not like Brazil. Being an ardent Arsenal fan, Kanu's three goals aginst Chelseas still does it for me always till I die. That day I was in school. saw the match at my uncle house. beautiful memories.
