State Owned Clubs Should Act Now, 2016 May Be Too Hot To Handle
By Footyalert → Saturday, 28 November 2015The management of these state owned clubs should think and plan ahead. Some governors are struggling with the 18k minimum wage and that simply means those free funds they rarely account for won't come in as usual. These clubs still have some months before the NPFL 2015/2016 starts, the chairmen of these clubs should take advantage of opportunities that are begging for attention to activate other source of income for the club.I pity clubs (Enyimba, Warri Wolves, Akwa United and Nasarawa United) playing on the continent next season, they are all sponsored by different states. The qualifying stage for both the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup starts February 12-14, 2016. That's a little over sixty days from now.No Nigerian club has played in the group stage of CAF club competitions since 2012 when Sunshine Stars led by the current coach of Shooting Stars Sc Ibadan Gbenga Ogunbote got to the semi final of the CAF Champions League. The expectations are high that the clubs representing Nigeria on the continent next season will perform but will they really perform if they continue to wait for their sponsors (state gornerment) to release funds even when it's obvious that it's not business as usual.Local clubs are yet to leverage on the opportunities around them but if they fail to act now 2016 offer some thing different.#SupportTheNPFL -
