Supporters and Loyalists of NPFL side,Sunshine Stars of Akure have expressed honest displeasure over the poor season performance of their darling club in the just concluded 2012/2013 Glo premier league season.
Sunshine Stars finished in 12th position with 52pts on the log, 2pts above the relegation drop zone.
A cross section of the fans who spoke to journalists have described the final position of Sunshine stars on the league log as "unacceptable" stating that it was the desire of football lovers in Ondo state to see the Akure Gunners return back to the continental scene
An angry fan,Olawale Moshood said it was a disappointing season for Sunshine despite the strong support given to the club by Ondo state government
"Things have gone from good to bad for the club,Can you imagine a team that finished second in the 2010/2011 season,Semi-finalists in both CAF Confederation&Champions legue so unfortunate they(Sunshine) could not be among top contenders for the league diadem"
Another supporter,Smart Ayoade highlighted the poor choice of coaches and some technical crew members as a major reason for the team absymal season performance
"The management failed to appoint a good&technically sound coach from the start of the season, after Gbenga Ogunbote's departure I felt a top notch coach would be named to replace him instead a rookie coach with no premier league experience was appointed(Samuel Abimbola)
"Coach Abimbola was sacked again another coach who has lost touch was given the job,Fatai Amoo only managed to get just one point out of 17 away matches"
"Both coaches failed woefully to add quality to the team" "I can't really figure out why the former team manager was relieved from his post,Mr.Aborowa did a fantastic job during his time what he
achieved was evident to all"guiding Sunshine Stars to semi final placing back to back on the continent.
"Rasheed hasn't proven to be a good team manager,a team manager who influences team selection, accuses senior players of selling match points is that a team manager?"
Aspino Reality a football supporter also pinpointed the signing of average players as another problem Sunshine Stars faced during the season as statistics shows that Emmanuel Olowo and Jude Ebitogwa were the only players that made the cut for matches during the second
round.
"Most of the players signed were average and low quality players, players are not properly screened as some group of people just smuggle their preferred players at will without due process"
He lamented that some players brought into the team were rather worse than the players on ground.
Meanwhile,a large portion of the club followers has called for the total overhaul of Sunshine Stars technical crew ahead of the new season as not even the insinuation that Henry Abiodun will take over from Amaoo could calm their friengh nerves.
"We want to charge the management to replace the technical crew with more capable and seasoned personnels who would bring in fresh ideas and changes to tinker Sunshine stars to winning ways"
