    South Sudan hurdle for Flamingos

Nigeria’s U-17 girls’ team, known as Flamingos, will have only South Sudan standing between it and a place at the 2014 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup finals to be staged by Costa Rica in March.

A message from the Confederation of African Football shows that only six countries, namely Nigeria, Zambia, South Africa, Ghana, Equatorial Guinea and South Sudan registered for the qualifying race, with three of them to fly the continent’s flag in Costa Rica.

Nigeria square off against South Sudan in a two-legged fixture, as will Zambia and South Africa, and Ghana and Equatorial Guinea. South Sudan will host the first leg against the more illustrious
Nigerians on the weekend of 1st – 3rd November, with the Flamingos playing the host in the return leg in Abuja on 23rd November.

CAF has appointed Kenyan referee Damaris Kimani to take charge of the encounter in Juba, capital of South Sudan, with her compatriots Jane Cherono, Mary Njoroge and Agneta Wambui Napangor to serve as Assistants 1 and 2 and Reserve Referee respectively.

Ugandan Aisha Natule will be Match Commissioner.
