Super Eagles and Celtic defender, Efe Ambrose insist he doesn't want a break till the World Cup as Celtic manager, Neil Lennon wants to give his World Cup stars a break.

Efe, who has represented Nigeria at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup, the Summer Olympics and the Africa Cup of Nations said he'll prefer to play football instead of
    going on a break.

According to Daily Record, the centre half is thinking more of Motherwell than the Maracana and Aberdeen rather than Aguero as he looks forward to the post-split fixtures.

Ambrose reckons he might only have a week’s break between this season and next given Celtic face Champions League qualifiers in mid-July. However, the 25-year-old is adamant even this tiny window of spare time will be spent kicking a ball about anyway.

And that’s why Lennon would be wasting his time giving the player an extended break.

The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON)  2013 champion who is backing his boss at Celtic in the Scottish Premier League for Manager of the Year, said in a chat with Daily Record "I don’t like to have time off – even when I’m off I still play football in Nigeria.

“I know the manager has spoken about giving players a break but we don’t have a game next weekend so that will be a chance to get a few days off.

“That will be enough of a break for me but even then I don’t really like being off because it gets me down.

"I like to keep working every day as I enjoy playing football. When I wake up in the morning I just want to get down to the training pitch and play football.

“That has always been my mindset so I’ve never thought of rest.

“The medical team don’t know my body like I do. Of course they will say I need a rest but if you give me a rest it gets me down and it’s harder to lift myself again so I like to keep going.

“I want to play in every game for Celtic between now and the end of the season. I might just get one week off and even then I’ll play football.

"That’s when you start enjoying football because in Africa we never stop playing whether it's a charity game or just with your friends.

“In Africa we wake up at 6am to go and play football – every day. Sometimes two games a day, one in the morning and one in the evening but it’s pleasure and not tactical.

“I just play with my friends to keep the body going, although I play in midfield because it’s less work. Seriously, when you give your body a rest it goes down.

“Even here when I wake up on a day off I feel sad. Everything is boring. My wife knows me better than anyone so she understands.”
