The Restoration Boys from Bayelsa looked like a team that will go far in the CAF Confederation Cup after the other Nigerian team, Warri Wolves who also featured in the same competition couldn't survive the battle in the competition.
With just the last hurdle to cross before they can feature in
the competition lucrative group stage, Bayelsa United couldn't just give enough to see them through to the next stage after losing at home by a lone goal to visiting Ivorian club side, Sewe Sport.
The Restoration Boys will by now hope for a second chance after they created series of chances but failed to covert them. It looked like a tough task for Bayelsa United after they lost the first leg by 2:0 away to Sewe Sport who couldn't make it to the group stage of the CAF Champions League.
Bayelsa United showed their intension from the blast of the whistle but their delivery was very poor however Sewe Sport seal their qualification to the CAF Confederation group stage after Kouanne Koffi converted a spot kick late in the second half to make it a tall order for the Nigerians. At the end of both legs the Ivorians won 0:3 on aggregate.
This is the second year no Nigerian club will feature in the group stage of a CAF competition. The last time a Nigerian club played at a CAF competition group stage was in 2012 when Sunshine Stars of Akure got to the semi final stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
