Chairman of Nigeria Academicals Sports Committee (NASCOM), Yemi Idowu, has tipped the current Flying Eagles to form the core of the country’s team to the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Idowu made a flying visit to watch the Flying Eagles draw 2-2 with hosts Morocco in a friendly on Wednesday in Rabat.
“I see this team providing the
core of the country’s team to the 2018 World Cup in Russia,” said Idowu, who also closely followed the team when they went all the way to win a record fourth FIFA U17 World Cup in Abu Dhabi last year.
“This team is doing the right thing and as long as they stay focused, I see a good number of the players from the team representing Nigeria at full international level by the time of the 2018 tournament.”
Idowu, who owns Nath Boys FC who feature in the Lagos Metro League, therefore enjoined the players and officials to continue to work harder as the U20 level is a lot higher to the U17 level, which they conquered in style in November.
