Abia Warriors of Umuahia face an uphill task this weekend as they confront city rivals Enyimba Intl of Aba in Match Day 16 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
This will be the third meeting between both sides in the NPFL since Abia Warriors gained promotion to the top-flight last season having picked up four points out of a possible six in their previous encounters, inflicting an astonishing result against the Peoples Elephant in Aba by a lone goal while the reverse fixture ended in a six goal thriller as both teams share the spoils.
Coach Ladan Bosso tutored side will be hoping that history repeat itself this weekend in Aba as they hope to force a defeat on Enyimba at home who are on 8 match unbeaten run.
Abia Warriors will be missing the services of their point man Chisom Chikatara who was invited to the camp of the Under-23 national team but they would be relying on the duo of Ifeanyi Onyeali and Ndifereke Effiong to cause the damage in Aba this weekend.
However, the Peoples Elephant of Aba will be basking in the euphoria of having recorded an impressive 8 match unbeaten run in the league and would hope that their neighbours caputilate this weekend as they surged on in their quest to win the league title this season.
New signing Christian Obiozor has hit the ground running for the People's Elephant having scored three goals since making his debut against Heartland while the trio of Markson Ojobo, Chinonso Okonkwo and Daniel Etor will also add to the attacking line up for Enyimba.
Coach Kadiri Ikhana's wealth of experience will also keep the Elephant in a vantage point but they will be hope to break the jinx against the Warriors from Umuahia who are yet to incur any defeat against them and also restore the Supremacy tag of the Peoples Elephant in Aba as they square up against each other this weekend
