Nigeria international, Asisat Oshoala who was named the BBC women's footballer of the year has been congratulated by Liverpool FC legend, Steven Gerald.
The Super Falcons and Liverpool forward, Oshoala,20, beat a strong competition from Veronica Boquete (Frankfurt/Spain), Nadine Kessler (Wolfsburg/Germany), Kim Little (Seattle Reign/Scotland) and Marta (Rosengard/Brazil) to emerge winner of the award in its inaugural edition.
Steven Gerald said :"Congratulations to Liverpool Ladies’ Asisat Oshoala on being named BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year 2015,”
However BBC's John Bennett wrote on social media : "Nice touch. Steven Gerrard has congratulated Asisat Oshoala on @bbcworldservice after she was named BBC Women's Footballer of the Year. #LFC"
Asisat Oshoala is with the Super Falcons in Canada preparing for the FIFA Women's World Cup where Nigeria will face Sweden on June 8,2015
