FC IfeanyiUbah goalkeeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa has expressed delight after he was named captain of the home-based Super Eagles.
Ezenwa will be assisted by Enyimba's left back, Chima Akas as the team prepare to face Benin Republic on August 13 in the first leg of the final qualifying round to the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Kenya.
"I am very happy to be named the captain of the team,"Ezenwa told Footyalert
"To lead is an added responsibility which I am delighted to take up. The most important thing is to lead well and carry my brothers along.
"The technical crew have given me the baton to lead and I will try to do my best.
The Anambra Warriors first choice goalkeeper has also reassured on delivering the ticket to Kenya 2018.
"We were welcomed by the people of Kano and each training session has been good with their support.
"Now we have to do our best to make sure that Nigeria qualify for the main tournament. I was at the last edition of the CHAN tournament but that's now in the past, our focus is to qualify for the main event,"Ezenwa concludes
