Emergency Committee Lifts Ban Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado Ekiti, Nigeria

The Emergency Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation rose from a meeting in Abuja at the weekend with a decision to lift the ban placed on Ado-Ekiti Township Stadium.

This decision follows a special appeal by the Ekiti State Football Association and stakeholders of the game in the State. The Disciplinary Committee of the NFF had placed the ban on the facility following disturbances that attended a Nigeria National League match between Fountain FC of Ekiti and Prime FC of Oshogbo, in addition to the penalty of forfeiture of three points and three goals by Fountain FC.

It was the unanimous position of the Emergency Committee that the penalty of forfeiture of three points and three goals was in order, but lifted the ban on the Ado-Ekiti Stadium “in the interest of
football and the teeming youth of Ekiti State who should not be denied access to playing facility for no fault of theirs.”

Present at the meeting were NFF President, Alhaji Aminu Maigari, Vice President, Chief Mike Umeh and Members of the Executive Committee Chief Emeka Inyama, Alhaji Muazu Suleyman, Alhaji Yusuf Ahmed Fresh and Alhaji Ahmad Muazu Kawu.

Article 41 of the NFF Statutes contends that “the Emergency Committee shall deal with all matters requiring immediate settlement between two meetings of the Executive Committee. The Committee shall consist of the President of NFF and five (5) members chosen from the Executive
Committee for a period of two (2) years.”
