Golden Eaglets thank Al-Ain fans ... Off to Dubai on Wednesday

As its customary from where ever they have gone, the Golden Eaglets once again rounded off their First Round schedule in the modest city of Al Ain on a positive note with a special thank you message to the fans despite a 3-3 draw against Sweden.

"Thank You For Your Support," the player unfurled a banner at the end of the energy-sapping encounter Khalifa Bin Zayed Stadium; completed with their now famous goal celebration chanting:' Yes! Yes!! Yes!!! “It is important to thank the Nigerian fans who travelled far and wide the UAE to come and support us in Al Ain," noted Suleiman Abubakar.

The team coordinator." But our special thanks to the good people of Al-Ain who made us to really feel at home. "We can't thank them enough and hopefully we would be back here for our Second Round Match after our game against Iraq in Dubai on Friday,” said Suleiman often called The General.

Meanwhile, Golden Eaglets would hit the road immediately after breakfast on Wednesday to Dubai for their last Group F match against Iraq on Friday with confirmation that FIFA has arranged to accommodate the contingent at the Intercontinental Hotel in Dubai.

Incidentally, the Golden Eaglets' first point of call three weeks ago was Dubai, the beautiful city dotted with noted skyscrapers including the tallest building in the world-the 800 feet Burg Khalifa.

Dubai is hoping to be enlisted into the exclusive list of world's Smart Cities but Golden Eaglets' striker, Taiwo Awoniyi maintained that the Nigerian youngsters are wise enough to differentiate between work and leisure, insisting that they would be seeking for the three maximum points against Iraq in Dubai.

" There is no doubt that Dubai is a beautiful city," said Awoniyi when he took his turn during the team's video shoot at their pre-world cup camp at Al-Jawhara Hotel in Deira."But we know the reason we are here in the UAE and we are focussed on the task of becoming world champions.

"We all love Dubai and we are expecting to see a lot of Nigerians to come and support us by the time we are back from Al-Ain to play Iraq on October 25th."
