Eaglets visit Kano Sports Institute ...As Manu, Kwande salute Gov. Kwankwaso

Golden Eaglets Head coach, Manu Garba (MFR) and Hon. Suleiman Kwande, NFF Board Member, has described the Kano State Sports Institute as a laudable project being undertaken by His Excellency Eng. (Dr,) Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

The victorious National Under-17 World Cup-winning team on Tuesday visited the sprawling edifice located in Karfi under Kura LGA. On the entourage were also board members including Dr. Shehu Adamu; Alhaji Yusuf Ahmed Fresh as well as Mallam Ibrahim Musa(SA to NFF's
President). Mallam Gara Gombe, Special Adviser to Kano State Governor who led the delegation to the institute site on the outskirts of Kano City, said it was about 90 percent completion with almost all the facilities at the ready.

The KSI is the first of its kind being undertaking by a state government with several facilities for sports already being put in place.

“This Kano Sports Institute is a mini Aspire in the making," coach Manu said while comparing the edifice to the massive Aspire Academy of Sports Excellency in Doha, Qatar."This is money well-spent for sports development and we want to commend Governor Kwankwaso for a job well
    done."

Hon. Kwande equally said Governor Kwankwaso deserves to be praised, even as he counselled on maintenance.

“There is no doubt that this is a right step in the right direction and I hope this project is completed before the end of the tenure of Governor Kwankwaso," he said."The challenge would be good maintenance of the project and I hope incoming state executives would continue to
    support the institute."

Gombe said, the target of the KSI is to be the first Sports University in. Africa in the foreseeable future, saying the state is committed to the project. In a related development, the Golden Eaglets also visited the Kofarnaisa Ultra Modern Sports Complex located in Sharada Area within
    the Kano City.

Though still under construction, Gombe said the site would accommodated 21 sports with 11 football pitches earmarked as well as facilities for sport science centre and theatre.
