Chairman of the club, Abdul Sule disclosed this in Lokoja after Kogi United completed the swapping of position with Bida Lions FC of Niger State to remain in the NNL.

Kogi United lost their status in the NNL last season after losing the appeal case against Adamawa United but have since exchange status with the Niger based club who promoted to the NNL last season.

Abdul Sule said the move to remain in the second tier league of the country became necessary as Kogi United deserves to be in top flight in Nigeria football.

He added that the club would put all they've got to compete favorably in the new season as mistakes noticed in the previous season would be amended.

"We are back in the game, I can confirm to you that we will be in NNL next season after we did the deal to swap position with Bida Lions, begins Sule.

"We cannot afford to play in amateur league, this club is too big for that, what happened to us last season was unfortunate, it was painful but we've put that aside now as we've learned our mistakes, this time we want to face this season squarely and by the grace of God, we will challenge for success and glory," the former Super Eagles defender said.

Sule however called on the management members, coaches, players, supporters, fans and well wishers of the club to have a renewed interest for the club with great support to achieve greatness next season just as he called on the league organizers for improved management of game to further develop the game.

Meanwhile, players of Kogi United have been asked to resume for training on Monday, January 4, 2016 for the preparation of the new NNL season.

Team Manager of the Confluence state club, Ameh Henry, in a statement noted that all players must be present at the training on the said dates as there won't be open screening for new player.

"We want to quickly swing into action and prepare well for the new season, we want all players to resume on this date as there will be strict penalty for late arrival.

"We will not be engaging in an open screening this time to avoid distraction and also we don't want to prolong our programs to be in better shape for the new season," Henry said in a statement.
