Nigeria Football Federation Appeal Committee on Thursday evening approves the continental ticket of Nasarawa United Football Club of Lafia, to represent Nigeria in the CAF Confederation Cup as it rules against the Disciplinary Committee verdict.
The NFF Disciplinary Committee last week ordered that the Week 38 match between Nasarawa United and Giwa Football Club of Jos, should be replayed, a tie which was discontinued by Giwa FC in breach of article B13.26 of the Framework and Rules of the Nigeria Professional Football League.
Nasarawa United appealed the judgment pronounced by the Barrister Christopher Green led Disciplinary Committee and NFF Appeal Committee granted the prayer of Nasarawa United overturning the decision of the NFF Disciplinary Committee and implement the provisions of article B13.26 as being applicable; that is a fine of N3 million on Giwa FC, a deduction of 3 points from Giwa FC and crediting Nasarawa United FC with 3 points and 3 goals.
An elated Nasarawa United chairman Barrister Isaac Danladi, after the verdict noted; “I’m not surprised because they did what they are supposed to do, we played the match according to the rules and regulation, and that the Appeal Committee as confirmed.”
"It is a victory for the rule of law and it is also a victory for Nigeria football, because the Appeal Committee did a wonderful job and we can now concentrate on our preparation for next season and our continental engagement."
