Our attention has been drawn to the story titled REAL REASONS 3SC BOSS RESIGNED in the weekend edition of Soccerstar, 31st August 2013. As such, it is very pertinent to react to some of the issues raised in the one-sided story. SALARY On the issue of Chairman and Board Members Salaries, Shooting Stars Football Club has nothing to do with their salaries, as it was the Government of Oyo State that fixed and pay the salary of all chairmen and members of all Boards and Parastatals in the state including Shooting Stars Board. QUERY AND CLUB ACCOUNT For the query said to have been given to the chairman by the Honorable Commissioner for Youth and Sports, there was never a time anything like that happened. As the chairman, Mr. Toyin Akintunde authorizes every payment as a signatory to Shooting Stars Account. Also it is on record that the Honorable Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr. Adedapo Lam-Adesina has nothing to do with Club's Account, as he is not even a signatory to the Account. It is the Chairman and the Club's Accountant that are signatories to the Club's Account. This could be confirmed from the Club's banker. RECRUITMENT OF PLAYERS On the recruitment of players, the Board headed by the chairman, Mr Toyin Akintunde, recruited and negotiated with the players, with no involvement of the Honorable Commissioner for Youth and Sports whatsoever. While it should be noted that the Honorable Commissioner for Youth and Sport had to cut short his holiday trip abroad few weeks ago to come rescue the dwindling fortunes of the Club, when it was obvious that the team was lacking direction. To cap it all, Mr. Toyin Akintunde was neither a politician nor chairman of Political party but Mr. Tunde Kelani, a member of the Board of the club is a card carrying member of a political party, Action Alliance (AA). At every point in time when the Commissioner visit the team in line his responsibilities and duties as the State Commissioner for Sports, he always tell the players to take instructions from coaches not from any outsiders.
The 2012/2013 Nigeria Premier League season started with two away wins, new comers Nembe City from Bayelsa chose to announce their presence in the league with an interesting win on the road at Owerri same as Kano Pillars who were the defending champions.
