NNL: Kogi United Humbled Mighty Jets At Confluence Stadium.

A goal in each half from Maiyaki Ismail and Ebenezer Odeyemi gave Kogi United a comfortable 2-0 victory over Mighty Jets of Jos in the week six of the Nigeria National League, NNL encounter on Saturday.

It was a total dominance game for Kogi United who could have scored more having produced more chances.

The Wada Boys wasted the first opportunity to take the lead in the 34th minutes after Ebenezer Odeyemi sent wide a spot kick, but were not
perturbed as they kept pressing for more chances until they deservedly took the lead in the last minute of half time as Maiyaki Ismail headed in Afolabi Abiodun's free kick. The home side started the second half as they ended the first with their blistering skills and cohesiveness. That eventually paid off within three of restart when Ebenezer Odeyemi redeemed himself with a well taken lobbed shot to make the scoreline 2-0 for Kogi United.

Other hopes of increasing the tally for Kogi United proved abortive as Coach Bernard Ogbe led Mighty Jets could not allow them to let in more goals. Chairman of the Confluence State Club, Mallam Abdul Adama who commended the boys for the victory, refused to be carried away as the club is yet to transform their home form to get results on the road. But believed in the abilities of players and coaches in his team.

"It was a good match as you can see, we could have score more today with those chances created, but we failed to convert them. I will not be too happy because I expect that this form at home should have fetch us points in our away games, but we will still keep supporting the team and believe in the boys until the job is done," echoed Mallam Adama.

Coach Bernard Ogbe of Mighty Jets however noted that Kogi United were tactically disciplined and they neutralized his approach to the game.

"I feel bad because we lost heavily, the Kogi boys were better tactically and determined, they couldn't allow us to replicate our usual tactical approach. They are mobile and disciplined. Its a set back for a team like us, but we will keep fighting as the battle is a long race. Kogi United have now garnered nine points from possible 18, and will next face Prisons FC in their next game.
