Lagos FA Cup: Nath Boys Face Tough Test, First Bank Make Last Four

Out of the 39 teams that started the race in the 2014 Lagos FA Cup just seven are left, Fame FC, Collins Edwin, Bridge FC, AS Racine, Nath Boys, MFM and First Bank who defeated Clique FC on Friday to book a last four ticket.

Former Nigeria National League campaigners, Bolowotan FC of Ikorodu were dumped out of the competition by non league side, Christ Ambassadors. The current Lagos FA Cup champions, COD United FC couldn't with stand the power of another non league side, Clique Sports in a 2:0 victory. Second runners up of State league tagged 'Eko Football League' LSDPC FC lost by a lone goal to non league side, Collins Edwin FC. Both the champions of Eko Football League, Messiah FC who will be representing Lagos state at the Nigeria Nationwide League division 3 play offs next month and second place team in that same league Teslim Thunder Balogun FC lost to Nath Boys FC and Bridge FC respectively.

Likely Teams To Make The Last Four


First Bank FC have secured their last four spot after defeating the giant killers, Clique Sports by a line goal.

Fame FC Vs. Collins Edwin SC - Monday, April 28 8am, Agege stadium

It looked like Fame FC who once got to the round of 32 at the Nationals in 2012 defeating 3SC by 2goals to one in the round of 64 at Sagamu before losing to Gombe United at the Confluence stadium Lokoja has gotten to their final destination. Though they've since picked up after a slow start against weaker teams but Collins Edwin SC who have recorded some interesting victories notably the lone goal victory over LSDPC FC have enough to nick this one.
Verdict: Fame FC 1:3 Collins Edwin SC.

Bridge FC Vs AS Racine -Monday, April 28 9am, Agege stadium

Nigeria Nationwide League division two side AS Racine were tagged as the come back kings. The Agege base team play as a team and that has worked for them on many occasions in other leagues. AS Racine had a tough session in the round of 16 with Yobo FC  who got to the semi final stage last season in 6 goal thriller that saw match decided via penalties 15:16.

Former Nigeria National League campaigner, Bridge FC who got to the last eight in 2013 will be another tough opposition for AS Racine. Both teams have a good forward line, they create chances to score but how well either team converts the opportunities that comes their way will go a long way.
Verdict: Bridge 2:1 AS Racine.

Nath Boys Vs MFM -Monday, April 28 11:30am, Agege stadium

It will be a tough battle between two creative midfielders, Abubakar Aminu of Nath Boys and Onuoha of MFM. Both players are gifted and they can make a mess of any defence at will with their precise passes.  Last year finalist, MFM got a scare in their round of 16 fixture against Samvic FC but capitalized on a situation that ensued from the bench of Samvic when the technical crew of Samvic  engaged in a row while the match was going on. It ended MFM 6:1 Samvic while Nath Boys trashed Nagate FC by 4goals to two.
Verdict: Nath Boys 3:2 MFM
