Lagos FA Cup Final: Agege Fans Divided Between Spartans And MFM

Agege Stadium will wear a carnival like look as two clubs that enjoy massive support amongst the locals faceoff in the final of the 2017 Lagos FA Cup on Sunday May 7.

There may be a lot of things lacking in Agege but a strong passion for quality football isn't one of them.

MFM, though not based in Agege but they play their home games in the top flight league at the Agege stadium, the Olukoya Boys  can attest to the huge support they've enjoyed from the fans there.

However, an identity of Agege, Spartans FC not only is based in Agege but commands unbelievable support in Agege. Though these two clubs have enjoyed true support from the fans, it'll be different on Sunday.

The stadium will wear the Blue and Purple colours of both teams as fans will be in their usual regalia as they bragg and create lively comical scene before during and after the match.

Chairman of Spartans who play in the Nigeria Nationwide League One (a third tier league),  Abdullahi Nakely has envisaged this and he is already putting measures in place to curb any excesses.

"We have a massive fan base and they've always turn out to see us play. We know that the stadium will be filled tomorrow but we have made plans as regards security," Abdullahi told Footyalert

"We want the fans to enjoy themselves in a good environment just both teams are expected to entertain with good football display."

" It'll be a reason to bragg  as MFM have done well for themselves in the Premier League. Spartans have grown through the ranks in the amateur league and to be crowned champions of Lagos will be huge."
