Eguma noted that the Federation Cup now
looks like an ordinary competition.
"There needs to be an improvement because the glamour is no longer there,"
“We knew how it was in the past with a lot of excitement and fun and it is no longer there now so something has to be done,” Eguma said.
“I think the authorities need to improve especially in the area of sponsorship because the competition has no title sponsors for now.”
Eguma whose team, Dolphins will face Enyimba in the 2014 Federation Cup final have always gone ahead to lift the trophy each time the Pride of Rivers get to the semi final.
Reports making the rounds has stated the Lagos will host the Federation Cup final on the 16th of August 2014.
Dolphins FC recorded a couple of slim victories on their way to the final, the Eguma led side defeated Enugu based Ingas FC 3-1 in the Round of 64 while Nigeria National League side Kogi United went down1-0 when they met at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, Benin City in the Round of 32. In the round of 16 Dolphins ran away with a 1-0 victory over fellow Premier League club, El Kanemi.
Dolphins were involved in a six goals thriller in quarter finals when the Pride of Rivers met Lobi Stars. Dolphins scored 4 goals and conceded twice but that effort was enough to see them through.
In the semi finals, Prime FC who had won all their 2014 Federation Cup previous matches via penalties looked to do same with Dolphins but the Pride of Rivers won the match by a lone goal to set up a Federation Cup final with two time African champions, Enyimba.
