  • Kano State Sports Writers Gears For Poll

    Kano state chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria has inaugurated a three man committee to conduct elections into the executive arm of the association
    .
    The  committee was formally inaugurated at the conference hall of the  Kano Press centre under the  watchful eye of the executive members of the state council of the NUJ led by its chairman Comrade Abduljalal Haruna.

    The outgoing chairman of the
    state chapter of the association, Rabiu Bello gave gratitude to almighty Allah for bringing his three years reign to a successful end, he further express satisfaction over the level of support and corporation extended to him, while in charge.

    According to him,  the tenure of the present state executive member of SWAN had elapsed in June, 2014, noting that, it is appropriate for a committee to be constituted to enable members elect leaders that will steer the activities of the group on a fresh three years mandate.

    He  pleaded with the members of  the electoral committee to discharge their responsibilities in fairness and equality, pointing out that, the committee should strictly adhere to the provisions of the constitution governing SWAN.

    Bello pointed out that, any conduct by the committee that contravenes the constitution of SWAN will not be tolerated, he thanked members of the committee for accepting to serve in the committee, describing their decision as heroic.
    Responding, the chairman of the electoral committee, Comrade Abba Muritala described the privilege handed to him, to chair the committee, as an honor, he pledged to discharge his duties discreetly.

    Speaking earlier, the chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kano State Council, Comrade Abduljalal Haruna extol the level of maturity exhibited by members of Kano SWAN “ I want to really  say thank you to all of you, for your support and co-operation, and I hope you will continue to work hard in this direction,”  Haruna said.
