Distinguish Senator representing Oyo North Senatorial district, Dr. Abdul Fatai Buhari, has donated a giant befitting trophy for the third edition of Gold Cup Pre-Season Tournament.
Buhari, the former chairman of Crown Football Club of Ogbomosho, while presenting the new trophy for the competition, commended the organizers of the competition and promised to always contribute his quota for the development of football in the country.
While receiving the giant trophy, the General Coordinator of the tournament, Tunde Shamsudeen, commended the cup donor, and said the trophy would bring about stiffer competition amongst the participating teams, knowing that something is at stake to be won.
"I want to specially thank Dr. Abdul Fatai Buhari, for his kind gesture and I believe this trophy will go a long way in making the competition more glamorous than it used to be,'' Shamsudeen said.
However, the two finalist will also be entitled to a set of jerseys from Nigeria leading sportswear manufacturer OWU Sportswear Ventures.
This year’s competition holds between Janaury 31-February 9, at the Otunba Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode with Shooting Stars, Crown FC, Ikorodu United, FC Yarmalight, Remo Stars among the participating teams.
Sharks FC of Port Harcourt won the last edition having defeated Shooting Stars in the finals.
