Former Super Eagles captain, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi became the Eagles coach at a time when Nigeria was still trying to get over the shock of not qualifying for Africa's prime tournament 'Africa Cup of Nations 2012' (AFCON).

Nigeria's former coach who is also a former Super Eagles player, Samson Siasia got a massive support from Nigerians to become the coach of Super Eagles after he took the Flying Eagles to the final of FIFA U/20 World Cup in 2005 and also played at the
final of the summer Olympics, Beijing 2008 where he lost to a Lionel Messi inspired side on both occasion but couldn't qualify Nigeria for AFCON 2012.

Keshi, came in with a different approach which got the backing of some but a lot of people crossed their fingers waiting for the result his decisions will produce.  He chose to look inward, he invited players from the domestic scene and most of those players grab the opportunity with both hands.

Some of the home based lads made the final list to the AFCON in 2013 and after the Super Eagles started slowly at the tournament the team surprised even themselves when Sunday Mba came to the party against Drogba inspired Ivory Coast in the quarter-final and Nigeria went on to lift the trophy.

Stephen Keshi lost more fans after the 2013 FIFA Confederation Cup, a lot of them questioning his technical ability. The Super Eagles won 6-1 against Tahiti ( the same country Spain beat 10-0 and Uruguay beat 8-0), lost to both Uruguay and Spain  1-2 and 0-3 respectively. The result of those matches at the Confederation Cup wasn't the high point instead his style of play and team selection was seriously questioned.

With the FIFA World Cup insight, many people feared that the Big Boss will struggle against the very best in the world but a few still felt there would be some improvement before the World Cup.

When Keshi released Nigeria's World Cup provisional list, the exclusion of IK Uche caused some row. Fans who had always questioned his style of invitation of players to the national team just couldn't see any reason why he left out Ike Uche that was one of the hottest strikers in the Spanish league last season. Though the come back of Stoke City forward, Peter Odemwingie was welcomed but going into the World Cup a lot of fans had already expressed fear that the Eagles won't make it out of the group stage considering the depth of the squad he's taking to Brazil.

Stephen Keshi's team made it out of the group stage and he became the first indigenous coach to lead the Super Eagles to the round of 16 at the World Cup.

Keshi has lost even more fans after that home lose to the Red Devils of Congo. Fans agued that his selection and style of play are questionable and it looked more like the Big Boss can't give what he doesn't have.

We have had the best of Him. Assist him with a technical adviser or let him take the bow while the ovation is still high.
