Nigeria international, Brown Ideye who is the Baggies club record signing has had a slow start to his West Bromwich Albion career and the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner is yet to score.

West Brom's coach, Alan Irvine has remained confident that the former Bayelsa United FC player, Ideye will become another success story at the Hawthorns.

The Baggies manager, Alan Irvine believes that Ideye is making an impact already and expects fans to see an upturn in his fortunes after he finally moved into a new house last week.

“Brown is one who’s been thrown in at the deep end,” said Irvine. “If Victor Anichebe hadn’t been injured, he wouldn’t have gone into the side as quickly as he did," Alan told Birminghammail.co.uk

“When he came off the bench at Southampton he made a big impact, but he needs time. He was thrown in and it can be a bit like a rabbit in headlights when you’re trying to cope.

“He has just moved into a new house this week. Other things, too, have to be dealt with and adjustments have to be made, but players get settled once they’re out of hotels. I moved out of the hotel as quickly as I could and it’s not ideal for players either.”

Irvine continue to have faith in Ideye who is yet to score stating that the Nigerian will start to show the quality that earned him his move to The Hawthorns.

“West Brom wouldn’t have spent that money lightly,” he added.

“He came highly recommended by the recruitment team and it’s a recruitment team who have recruited successfully in the past. They’ve seen plenty of things in him that are encouraging. He was one we wanted to get over the line.

“It’s still very early to be judging him but I’m hoping he’ll be able to show what he can do.”

Irvine accepts that some players settle quicker than others but insists Ideye can shine.

“I’ve seen Brown lash them in in training but he needs that moment during a game where it happens for him.”
